Bright Copper Kettles? AURORA – When gallery owner Kim Harrell thinks of her favorite things, copper kettles might feature but it will more than likely be art. Formally known as the Winter Festival Exhibition, Harrell has changed it up to offer a selection of ‘her favorite things’. “I have worked with some wonderful artists and am always finding new ones,” says Harrell. “This was an opportunity to introduce some new faces and welcome back some favorites and refresh the work of my standard artists.” Some of the artists have taken the theme to heart and have produced work specifically for the show. Painter Kimberly MacArthur Graham has used some of her favorite things and themes to produce new work for the gallery. Newcomer ceramic sculptress Penney Bidwell, seen recently at Next Gallery, will also be producing new work. Other new faces include jewelers Kirsten Schafer and Kara Worthen, both working in silver. Illustrator and print maker Lisa Wharton’s work may seem familiar to locals if they have seen her huge billboards commissioned by Lowry to promote their community. Of the nineteen artists invited, seventeen of them work and live within 45 minutes of the gallery.
My Favorite Things opens Friday, November 16, with a public reception from 5.00 – 9 pm, at East End Applied Arts, 1556 Florence Street, Aurora, 80010.
