For immediate release Contact: Lori Goldstein or Kim Harrell 720.203.3575 January 27, 2009 Exploring the Past with Poetry Aurora- Denver’s renowned poet and playwright, Hilary DePolo, offers new and out of the ordinary ways to discover past lives. DePolo is known for her ability to compose poems inspired by names and circumstances related to past lives. She has “sought to advance the position of the arts,” she writes, through her unusual and stimulating inter-disciplinary mixture of poetry, visual arts, original music, and oral interpretation. DePolo’s most recent show, Past Lives encounters with previous sojourns, which was inspired by past life regression, has been nominated for the Pushcart Prize of 2009. “I felt that ‘Past Lives’ was an opportunity to not only explore different characters, but also to explore myself through a process of imaginative healing,” she says. DePolo received her Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Detroit and then her Masters of Art in Theatre from Wayne State University. Her lyric and narrative poetry has awarded her many prizes, including being named a finalist for her work on Character Sketches for the New American Press Chapbook Contest in 2006. Her work is also included in many publications such as Green Fuse Press and Columbine Poets. Presently, DePolo lives in Denver where she runs visual arts consultant business. Hilary DePolo will be reciting her poetry at East End Applied Arts, February 13 at 7 pm as part of the Second Fridays events in the East End Arts District in Aurora. East End Applied Arts is located at 1556 Florence Street in Aurora Friday. New works by silversmith and jewelry designer Kim Harrell and up and coming painter, Theresa Anderson, will also be on display. This event is open and free to the public.
